Is anyone planning on attending SND's 31st workshop, this year held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Sept. 21-24? If you are, how and why? If not, why not?
** Addition: After hearing the presentation from the organizers here in Orlando this morning, I'd recommend you go if possible.

I would never get a trip like that approved by my supervisors. (And if I did, my colleagues would never let me live it down.) I'd pay for it myself, but a quick check online puts the flight alone in the $800 range. I've always wanted to go to Buenos Aires, but I think this year I'm more likely to stay close to home for my SND gatherings.
ReplyDeleteNot a chance. And honestly, I think it makes SND look a bit out of touch to expect international travel from any American journalism outlets this year. I understand and admire SND's internation ambitions, but I think those days have gone by.
ReplyDeleteIn SND's defense, the Buenos Aires event has been planned for a while. However, next year's workshop is in Denver and from what I heard from an organizer this weekend, it'll be a blast.
